有这么一个故事：一位女士因为刚搬进城市不久，由于卫生和社区管理不能养狗。没办法，她趁家人出去的几天时间，把相处了八年的狗扔了一次又一次，无论多远它都会找回来。她把它的眼睛蒙上，也还会回来。送到亲戚家，亲戚因为受不了它相思病般的呜咽又送了回来。于是就要让屠夫把狗给杀了。屠夫对它无能为力，那位女士却自告奋勇地拿起绳索去套狗，那狗这会儿却一动不动，任凭主人宰杀。……

从这个故事中，我们不难发现人性的丑陋——一只伴随着主人八年的狗，几乎把整个生命都奉献给了主人，可见它的忠诚。可是与之形成鲜明对比的却是女主人报之以的丢弃、寄养和绞刑。是什么原因造成了这种人间悲剧的上演？很明显是因为现代人的人情味淡薄所造成。

为什么那只狗会挣扎？那是因为有个满身是血的屠夫要用绳把它给绞死，所以它不得不躲避。我想它那会一定用祈求的眼神看着它的女主人吧，它一定以为女主人会救它，尽管它已经多次被主人抛弃。我在想：它难道真的那么笨吗？难道它看不出主人的意图吗？都不是，它只是不愿意接受事实罢了。为什么当主人亲自拿着绳索来套它时，它却不躲不闪也不吠了，只用那双明亮漆黑又迷茫的眼睛看着女主人将自己套住，绑好 ，并用它的舌头舔着女主人的手呢？难道它绝望了吗？不是的，这是它要表示对朝夕相处了八年的主人的最后的忠诚——用生命诠释的忠诚。换了我，我一定会马上松开将要扼杀忠诚的手，可是那女主人却狠心地绞死了它……

Though smoking has been banned in public places in many cities, many people are still addicted to smoking, especially young people. Some smokers seem to have “quite convincing” reasons for their continuing to smoke. They claim if smoking is forbidden in public places, it will infringe upon their personal freedom and human rights.
